Android M is Marshmallow!

Android M is Marshmallow!

Do you like Marshmallow? If yes you don’t have to wait longer… We are talking about Google’s latest Operating system which was being anticipated since last few months. During the initial announcement it was being termed as Android M where M was a Mystery. Now it’s official Android Marshmallow. It’s Yummy… for your Android mobile. Google is known for its sweet operating system’s names like Cupcake, Donut, Éclair, Ginger board, Kit Kat and so on.

The next new version of Android will provide more security in terms of authentication & improve overall battery performance. The Google Developers blog didn’t mention many technicalities for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release, so details are still relatively scanty. The main focus areas of Android 6.0 Marshmallow is on improvising existing features. Here are some features we know about Android Marshmallow.

Fingerprint Sensor support

Android Marshmallow provides a much anticipated feature in terms of Fingerprinting sensor. It is standardized in such a way that the API can be extended to different phones. This functionality creates an opportunity for diverse usages. For example, you can make payment via Android Phone i.e. Android Pay transaction ( in compliment to Apple Pay for iOS).

Managing Power

Most smartphone users have complained about low battery life. When your phone is not being used there are still some processes which are running in background and this affects to your phone battery. The specification of this feature is that it will stop those processes which are not active for long time. This power management feature is termed DOZE.

App permissions

As we know when you install app in your mobile you can find list of access which app requires after the installation. After this update you’ll have access to modify the permission in your phone setting.

App links

Currently Android supports the app link which provides you a choice to open a link in browser or in app. With new OS developers will be able to add a logic in the programming which verifies the link as to whether it should open in App only? And if so it will do the same without prompting the user to choose from the options. With this addition it improves the usability aspect of the App and provides small but tangible improvement across several verticals.

Android Marshmallow supports USB type-C charging with which you can charge your phone and also some other device because it has a bi-directional port. Some other minor features that has been implemented are copy & pasting has been made easier. Users are given a floating toolbar from where they can easily select the action (Cut, Copy or Paste). This reduces the steps that they need to take and improves the usability. Volume control comes with easy to use drop down menu and so on.

We are living in exciting times of Mobility revolution. With such innovation from industry leaders like Google it gives more options to startups & entrepreneurs to add value and solve every day problems with technology. Android Mobile App development is a growing trend in App ecosystem and with Marshmallow there are more technical options and improvements which can be implemented in the mobile apps.
